FG Will Review ₦70,000 Minimum Wage as Cost Of Living Rises — Chief Of Staff, Gbajabiamila

The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has announced that the Federal Government will review the ₦70,000 national minimum wage to ensure it reflects the country’s current economic realities.

Speaking on Thursday at the Good Governance Summit 2026 organised by Working People United (WoPU) in Abuja, Gbajabiamila said the Tinubu administration recognises the increasing cost of living and remains committed to ensuring workers receive fair wages.

He recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the ₦70,000 minimum wage into law in July 2024, more than doubling the previous ₦30,000 benchmark. He also noted that the President shortened the wage review cycle from five years to three years to allow salaries to keep pace with economic changes.
