The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has stated the conditions necessary for him to consider the release of prominent native doctors currently facing trial in the state.
The detained individuals, including Chigozie Nwangu (popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki) from Oba, Eke Hit from Okija, and Onyeze Jesus from Nkpor, were arrested in February on serious allegations. These include promoting fraudulent get-rich-quick schemes, preparing charms for suspected criminals, and misleading youths into believing in wealth without legitimate hard work.
During a visit to Oba, Nwangu’s hometown, Governor Soludo was met with appeals from local youths requesting the release of the detained native doctor, whom they described as an important community figure.
In his response, Governor Soludo acknowledged the appeal but firmly emphasized that the matter is now a judicial process and beyond his unilateral control. He clarified that for him to intervene, the full legal proceedings must first conclude.
