A four-month-old baby, Miguel Angelo Barbosa, has d+ed  in northeastern Brazil after a hospital worker allegedly connected his milk to an intravenous line instead of his feeding tube.

Miguel had been admitted to Hospital Memorial de Goiana on October 11 for treatment of bronchiolitis after experiencing breathing difficulties. His condition improved over the following days, giving his family hope that he would soon return home.

While receiving treatment, medication and fluids were administered through an IV line in his neck, while his milk was supposed to be given through a separate nasal feeding tube.

His paternal aunt, Meyre Gabriela da Silva, was staying beside him while his mother recovered from emergency appendix surgery. According to Meyre, she briefly left the room around 4am on October 20 while Miguel was asleep.
