A Canada-based Nigerian doctor, Zo, has claimed that some Nigerians may have been wrongly declared de@d due to inadequate medical equipment in hospitals.
“I’m saying this as someone who has worked in the healthcare system in Nigeria. I have never seen an AED in a hospital in Nigeria when I was working there. Some doctors in Nigeria check whether someone is dead when the person stops breathing. If there is still a pulse or blood pressure, they may raise the person’s hand three times and immediately declare them de@d,” he said.
Zo made the remarks while responding to a Nigerian who commented on his previous post, arguing that an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) cannot prevent de@th when someone’s time has come.
He also recalled how a 12-year-old boy l0st his life years ago while he was working at a hospital in Abia State, due to a lack of necessary medical equipment.
Responding to those urging him to buy the equipment for Nigerian hospitals, Zo said he would not do so, insisting that Nigerians should vote for the right leaders, specifically mentioning NDC presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi.
He also cited Burkina Faso as an example, arguing that the country has recorded improvements in its healthcare system under good leadership in less than four years.
