Fear has spread across the Nasarawa State University, Keffi community after suspected g¥nmen reportedly abducted no fewer than eight students during a midnight att@ck on off-campus hostels around the institution’s Engineering Campus in Gudi.
The incident was said to have happened around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday when the armed att@ckersstormed several student lodges near the university environment. Eyewitnesses disclosed that the g¥nmen forcefully entered the hostels and whisked the victims away to an unknown location.
The att@ck reportedly lasted for several minutes, leaving many students traumatized as g¥nshots and shouting echoed through the area. A source who spoke anonymously said students hid in fear throughout the operation while many complained about the absence of immediate security intervention.
“As the sh%oting and shouting were going on, students were crying and hiding in fear. There was no visible security response while the operation lasted,” the source said.
The development has heightened tension within the university community, especially as students are currently writing examinations. Residents and students have also expressed concerns over the reportedly minimal security presence around the campus after the att@ck.
Students and members of the community are now calling on security agencies and the Nasarawa State Government to urgently intensify efforts to rescue the abducted students and improve security around the school and surrounding communities.
