Landlord Arrested in Akwa Ibom After Allegedly Inj¥ring His Tenant With Sharp Object Over Rejected Advances

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Akong Henry for allegedly assa+lting a woman in Abak Local Government Area.

The victim, Rachael, said the suspect her landlord reportedly att@cked her after she turned down his advances.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday, April 1, the Command’s spokesperson, Timfon John, stated that the victim sustained inj¥ries to her head and left arm and suffered significant bl++d loss.

She was immediately taken to a medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment.

According to the police statement, the incident was reported on March 31, 2026, at about 6:45 p.m., when Rachael, 31, visited the police station to report that her landlord had assa+lted her during a disagreement.

Preliminary findings indicate that during the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a sharp object to att@ck the victim, resulting in her inj¥ries and heavy bl++ding.

Police operatives responded promptly after receiving the report, rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment, and arrested the suspect.

The Command confirmed that a thorough investigation has commenced into the matter.

It also condemned acts of vi%lence capable of causing serious h+rm and advised members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and report grievances to the appropriate authorities instead of resorting to vi%lence.
