A Nigerian man has narrated how xenophobic threats and intimidation forced him to flee South Africa, abandoning his home, vehicles and business to save his life and protect his family.
Speaking in an interview with Arise News, he said he decided to leave after receiving repeated d+ath threats from people in his neighbourhood.
“I left because of a lot of threats, physical threats,” he said, recounting how a petrol station attendant he regularly bought fuel from allegedly threatened to k+ll him.
According to him, the man warned, “Come 30th of June, you will know I’m not a young man. I will make sure that I sl+ce your head,” before allegedly describing how he would k+ll him and harm his family.
