Tanzania has officially removed Nigerian passport holders from its referred visa category, meaning Nigerians traveling to the country will no longer be required to undergo the additional visa referral process.
The change took effect on September 25, 2026, following amendments published in Government Gazette No. 246 of 2026.
According to Tanzania’s Immigration Services Department, Nigerian nationals traveling to the United Republic of Tanzania will now follow the country’s standard visa application procedures.
Nigerians can apply through Tanzania’s official immigration online portal or designated entry points, without being subjected to the previous referred visa restrictions.
The development was announced by Tanzania Immigration Services Department Chief Spokesperson, ACI Paul J. Mselle, who said the removal was in line with the recently published amendments.
