The Senate has proposed a six-month jail term, ₦300,000 fine, or both for hospitals that delay or refuse emergency treatment.
The proposed bill requires hospitals to assess emergency patients within 15 minutes and begin stabilisation within 30 minutes.
The bill has passed its second reading and has been referred to the relevant Senate committee for further consideration.
