A Nigerian-born man, Fawaz Oyedeji, 19, has been sentenced to four years in prison after attempting to steal a £72,500 Porsche Cayenne from its owner using an imitation firearm in London.
Oyedeji, who lives in Greenwich, was sentenced on Thursday at Inner London Crown Court after detectives used CCTV footage, mobile phone records and forensic evidence to link him to the attempted robbery.
He had contacted the victim after seeing the vehicle advertised online and arranged to inspect it at the owner’s home in Southwark on March 18, 2025.
During the meeting, the victim showed him the car before they sat in the front seats to discuss the potential sale. Oyedeji subsequently pulled out what appeared to be a firearm, pointed it at the victim and demanded the keys.
However, the victim fought back, forcing Oyedeji to abandon the attempt and flee the scene. Police launched an investigation after receiving an emergency call.
