BREAKING: Egg prices surge to ₦8,500

Mojeed Iyiola, the chairman of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, PAN, Lagos, has explained why egg prices have surged to as much as N8,500 per crate as scarcity intensifies in parts of Nigeria.

Speaking with NAN in a recent interview, Iyiola attributed the price hike and scarcity to the lack of day-old chicks (DOCs), which he said is driving the nationwide egg shortage.

He noted that poultry farmers currently have no access to DOCs, adding that all hatcheries are fully booked.
