DR Congo army discovers weapons cache in Ituri, urges CRP militia to surrender

The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have intensified operations against armed groups in Ituri Province, with a new weapons cache discovered in Jingo village, located in the Mambisa Chiefdom of Djugu Territory, officials said on Sunday.

A statement from the army indicated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal armed groups operating in the region. The recovered cache is being examined, and security forces have increased patrols in surrounding areas to prevent further militant activity.

The army’s spokesperson in Ituri also called on members of the CRP militia to surrender their weapons and reintegrate into civilian life, emphasizing that those who lay down arms will be treated in accordance with national disarmament and reintegration programmes.
