Fortunately, no fatalities were recorded when a three-story building at No. 14 Ikpoh Street in Surulere, Lagos, collapsed on a Friday night at around 10:00 p.m.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), through its territory coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, stated that there were no casualties of the incident.
One of the occupants of the building, Mr Gervase Anyanwu, said that after hearing a huge bang that echoed from one of the building’s wings, everyone was able to escape safely.
Anyanwu asserted that divine mercy was responsible for the building occupants’ prompt escape and the absence of fatalities.
According to a separate street neighbour, the building had obvious warning signs before it fell.
