Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation activist, says he has accepted his detention in a prison facility in the Republic of Benin as a “journey in life between me and God.”
Recall On July 20, Igboho and Ropo, his wife, were apprehended by Benin Republic security forces at Cotonou’s Cadjèhoun Airport while attempting to flee to Germany.
He was detained at the request of the Nigerian government, which had declared him “wanted” following a raid on his home in Ibadan’s Soka neighborhood.
A Benin court blocked the self-determination activist’s immediate extradition to Nigeria a week later, ordering that Igboho be remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
The Yoruba activist said he was not afraid of being extradited to Nigeria.
