Born Yemi Eberechi Alade on the 13th of March 1989, is an Afropop singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist who hails from Ondo State in the Western region of Nigeria.
She came into the limelight in 2009, after emerging as the winner of Peak Talent Show 2009. After the show, she was signed immediately to a label called Effyzzie Music Group. Her debut single Johny which was released without her consent in 2014 set her up for global recognition.
Yemi is the first woman to be nominated for Musician of the year at MTV African Music Awards in 2015.
Yemi Alade sings in Igbo, Yoruba, French, English, Pidgin, Swahili, and Portuguese.
Yemi Alade stared in her first movie in 2019, playing the role of Nneka in Home (The Movie), she also stared in the 2020 hit movie Omo Ghetto The Saga as Mogambo.
Some awards she has won include Best Female Artiste in Western Africa, AFRIMA 2015, Best Female artist AFRIMA 2018, Best Female Artiste MTV MAMA Awards 2016, Best Performer 2019 at The Headies, Best female at Soundcity MVP Awards 2016 and lots more.
