Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has accused wealthy people of altering the nation’s capital’s Master Plan.
Prior to his inauguration on August 21, 2023, Wike said that “so many things have gone wrong in the FCT” in an exclusive interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday.
Members of the elite, according to the former governor of Rivers State, are the “major lawbreakers” in the FCT.
He claimed that a select few wealthy people had corrupted the FCT’s master plan by developing designated areas like the Green Area.
“Today in this country, who are the major lawbreakers? Is there are any poor man that is doing something to distort the Master Plan of the FCT?
“Is there any poor man that is living in Asokoro, that is living in Maitama or Garki? So, what are we talking about?” Wike said.
Before choosing him as FCT minister, Wike stated, that President Bola Tinubu must have considered his performance as governor of the Rivers.
According to the FCT minister, some decisions must be made and only someone with a strong will like himself can make them, regardless of whose ox is gored.
The former governor promised to assemble a formidable legal team to take on corrupt elites.
Wike added that there would be “no going back” on the FCT Administration’s plans to tear down structures that were disrupting the Abuja Master Plan.
