The Nigerian chief electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has released the final voters statistics ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The commission released the statistics on its official Twitter handle on Wednesday.
They announced the following figures: Registered Voters- 93,469,008. The total number of ineligible voters removed was 53,264. Males numbered 49,054,162 accounting for 52.5% of the total voting population.
The number of registered females stood at 44,414,846 accounting for 47.5% of the total voters.
People with disability (PWD) were 85,362 (2021/22 CVR).
Of the entire population of voters, youths (18-34) wer3 37,060,399 making up 39.65% of the total voters.
At the end of the tweet, the commission also issued a few pieces of information which were lauded by Nigerians, including the number of released permanent voters cards (PVC).
However, the most popular one is “Underage voters, vote buyers will be arrested and prosecuted”, which most commenters spoke about, and urged the commission to do as they promised.
