Born Chukwuk Ekweani, on the 16th of July 1995, is an Afropop singer, songwriter and who plays the piano, drum and guitar. Clay hails from Anambra State, in the Southeastern region of Nigeria.
Ckay’s love for music was inspired by his father, who was a choir coordinator and also Ckay’s first music teacher, who taught him how to play the piano.
Ckay pursued his career as a member of a band but later went Solo.
After being signed into Loopy Music he moved to Lagos. In 2015, Loopy Music and Chocolate City merged hence Ckay being an artist under Chocolate city label before his contract expired and was signed by Warner Brothers Africa, where he is signed presently.
Ckay’s love Nwantiti which was released in 2019 and its remix featuring Joeboy and Kuami in 2021 gave him international recognition as it became a hit in 2021 and a TikTok sensation. The song was featured on various charts and was number 23 on the UK chart and also earned him his first Billboard entry.
