VIDEO: See the gunmen killed at the attack on Awada Police station in Anambra

Following the attack on a police station in the Awada axis of Onitsha, in Anambra state, some gunmen were killed in the attack.

Three gunmen lost their lives, and their dead bodies were paraded before a camera where anyone who care to look could have a look at the destruction they visited on the police station and the protective charms around their waist.

The gunmen set fire to the Awada police station in the early hours of Monday, reports said. The gunfire exchange between both sides, with the gunmen biting the dust in the process.

The number of policemen who were killed or injured in the course of the attack is unknown at the time of filing this report.

In the same breath, five gunmen were also neutralized by Nigerian soldiers at the 3-3 area of Onitsha, on Sunday morning.

Attacks on security personnel in the southeast by gunmen have continued in 2023. Security operatives got hit by gunmen several times in 2022 and many of their stations burnt to the ground.

Based on reports gathered by MAD, the Nigerian security personnel is yet to gain the sympathy of the southeastern people notwithstanding the continued attacks on its men. The men are usually attacked by those gunmen on their duty posts or stations.

Reasons for the lack of sympathy stems from a lack of confidence in the ability of the security operatives, especially the Nigerian police to help the people in their time of need, security-wise or in dispensing justice.
