Attacks on security personnel in the southeast by gunmen have continued in 2023. Security operatives got hit by gunmen several times in 2022 and many of their stations burnt to the ground.
Based on reports gathered by MAD, the Nigerian security personnel is yet to gain the sympathy of the southeastern people notwithstanding the continued attacks on its men. The men are usually attacked by those gunmen on their duty posts or stations.
Reasons for the lack of sympathy stems from a lack of confidence in the ability of the security operatives, especially the Nigerian police to help the people in their time of need, security-wise or in dispensing justice.
