Born Vanessa Hau Mdee on the 7th of June 1988, is a Tanzania singer, rapper, television personality and radio host.
Vanessa studies Law at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
Vanessa’s career started in 2007 after she auditioned for the MTV VJ search in Dar es Salaam. She was one of the hosts of the Coca-cola Chart Express.
From 2008, Vanessa hosted events across Africa which gave her prominence and her walk into stardom. Her first body of work which she titled ‘Money Mondays’ was released in 2008, the work broke records in the history of Tanzania music as stated by Boomplay.
In 2013, she won Best Afro Pop, Best Collaboration, RnB, Song of the Year, at Tanzania Music Awards. She also won Best African RnB and Soul, Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa at 2013 All Africa Music Awards, she also won Best International Female Artist Africa at Africa Entertainment Awards (Canada) 2015, Best Female Artist East Africa at African Muzic MagaIne Awards in 2015.
Vanessa has won several awards celebrating her excellence in the fields she ventured into, music, television, radio and also fashion. She is among Africas best musicians.
