A young boy has tragically died at the age of five after he drowned while swimming in a lake in a Pennsylvania state park.
Several agencies were called to Pleasant Valley Beach in Moraine State Park just before 2 pm on Monday following reports that a boy, five, was unresponsive, park manager Drew Dustin revealed.
While first responders performed life-saving measures on the as-yet-unnamed boy for around half an hour, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on the banks of the man-made Lake Arthur.
Officials said that he was swimming in the authorized swimming section, which has a maximum depth of just five feet. He was found in a part of the lake that was around two to three feet deep.
It is not currently known whether his family were in the water as their son drowned.
