The Emirate of Bida was a successor of the Nupe Kingdom and Emirate in central Nigeria.
Originally established in the mid-15th century, the Nupe Kingdom, centred on the city of Bida, grew into a formidable military power and important centre for trade and manufacture, especially cloth production and metal-working.
The traditional architecture of Nupeland featured an interesting mix of local central Nigerian styles with noticeable Hausa influences.
