Born John Ikechukwu Okafor on the 17th of October 1961, is a Nigerian a tie who is popular for his comic roles and known as Mr Ibu after a character he played continuously in different movies.
Mr Ibu hails from Enugu State in the Eastern Province of Nigeria.
Before his career as an actor, Mr Ibu worked as a hairstylist than a photographer to find for himself and his family, who were facing a tough time in finance.
Mr Ibu had to drop out of the University of Yola as a result of the financial challenges he faced while studying. He later enrolled in the Institute of Management after he got the necessary finance to pursue a degree.
He worked with the Anambra Broadcasting Service and was a member of their cast for the soap opera “Ogbu Anyway”.
John Okafor practised Karate for sixteen years and has a black belt in martial art. Some movies he starred in are Agonny, Vuga, Police Recruit, Nicodemus, Ngozi: Abeg marry us, Mr. Ibu, Mr. Ibu and son, Coffin Producers and more. It is recorded he has been featured in over two hundred movies since his venture into acting.
