An 18-year-old young man, Tope Momoh was remanded for killing his mother, Stella Momoh.
This judgement was passed at the chief magistrate court in Akure, Ondo state.
Tope allegedly strangled his mother, Stella over a midnight argument during which his mother called him a bastard.
He eventually confessed to the crime, two weeks after his mother’s burial.
While in court, Tope pleaded, saying: “I did not have rest of mind since my mother has been buried. So, I was forced to confess that I strangled her to death. I want the court to show me mercy”.
After a plea from the police prosecutor on his behalf, the magistrate court officiated by Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunnus ordered that the 18-year-old be remanded at the Olokuta correctional facility.
The case was adjourned till the 20th of October 2022.
