According to Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Operation Delta Safe troops has discovered and destroyed 89 illegal refining stations in the Niger Delta area during the past two weeks.
In addition, they destroyed 138 storage tanks, removed 21 dugout pits, got 56 boats, took 235 cooking ovens, six pumping units, one outboard motor, and two speedboats.
Along with these operations, the soldiers also found about 1.2 million litres of stolen crude oil, 452,910 litres of unlawfully processed automotive gas oil, 22,650 litres of premium motor spirit, and 3,000 litres of dual-purpose kerosene.
They also seized 15 different firearms while apprehending 59 alleged oil thieves and other offenders.
All items recovered and persons rescued and arrested have been handed over to relevant authorities for further action.
