The little Princess was married off at a very tender age of 17/ 18 years to my father, the young and fashionable Tobias Chima who worked then with Costain West Africa.
As a full time housewife, she busied herself with learning how to sew. In this picture, my pretty mum as a teenager is first on the left (with a hand fan) at the sitting row.
This picture was taken in the early 60s in Ibadan. The ladies there were apprentices at Mrs Nwafor’s Sewing Institute on the California Hotel Street now known as Gbadebo Street, Mokola Ibadan. Photo stamp reads ‘All Weather Ibadan.
I wish some of these ladies can be recognized and identified either by family members or friends of family members. In those days, learning a trade was taken quite seriously. See these women even in sandals for training in dress making
