A Political pundit, Kayode Eesuola, has stated that rubbishing Obasanjo’s choice of candidacy is irrelevance from the APC.
According to him,the reports on whether of not Obasanjo’s endorsement is strictly an individual choice on assessment of the candidates and has nothing to gain from it.
The Research Associate Professor of Politics stated that the APC and PDP are just being political and it’s difficult to say that Obasanjo’s opinions are irrelevant. In his own words as seen on TVC news .
“The APC and PDP are just being political. It’s difficult to say that Obasanjo’s opinion is irrelevant. If the opinion is useless, why did your candidates run to him to solicit support?
It’s a contradiction. But like I said, they are just being political and they are expected to behave in such a way. I think in Nigeria today, Obasanjo remains an opinion leader, he has one vote but definitely, you cannot deny that his position will influence a lot of people in this country. That is the reality of politics as we see it in Nigeria.”
