Portable has denied allegations that superstars Olamide and Poco Lee enabled his breakthrough in the music industry.
Olamide was credited earlier for launching portable’s musical career. Not only did he help him, he had helped Bella Shmurda get her big break by connecting Ghana’s sensation Black Sheriff and Afro star, Burna Boy.
With the help of Olamide and Poco Lee, Portable’s street rap song “Zazoo Zeh” from 2021 gave him his big break.
However, the singer claimed in an interview that he was already well-known for his songs before meeting Olamide. “No one linked me.” When your time (for fame) comes, everyone DMs you. I was never famous. “I know I trended,” the singer claimed.
With multiple incidents involving him in 2022 alone, Portable has a reputation as a somewhat contentious singer.
In one instance, Portable made headlines for hitting one of his signees after a disagreement. Also, former residents of some areas of Lagos State were terrorized by the singer’s cult, which he once claimed to have founded.
In “The Headies 2022,” he also made threats to kill other musicians who were nominated against him.
In response, the police requested an investigation into the cult allegation, and the Headies ultimately disqualified him.
