According to the Katsina State Police Command, Jibrin Yusuf, 25, had been arrested on suspicion of raping and killing a seven-year-old girl in the village of Kanon-Haki, Faskari LGA, Katsina State.
The incident was revealed in a statement by ASP Sadiq Abubakar, the Katsina State Police Command’s spokesperson.
He claimed that on August 2, 2023, the victim’s father, Hassan Jibrin, had hired the suspect to transport fertilizer between two of his fields that were located outside of the village.
The suspect pulled the young girl against her will to a nearby farm, where he raped her and then stabbed her death with a sharp knife after realizing that she was left alone to watch over the fertilizer.
The corpse was then moved to another farm, covered with leaves, and three sacks of fertilizer were stolen.
Detectives looking into the crime arrested the suspect, who allegedly admitted to raping and killing the seven-year-old. He was also found with the fertilizer bags that had been stolen.
