According to the 19th century Kano Chronicle, the Hausa city of Kano was founded by Daud Bagauda in 998 AD, establishing a dynasty that would last until the 1807 Fulbe conquest of the city, incorporating it into the Sokoto Caliphate and establishing the Dabo Dynasty in 1819, which still rules Kano to this day.
