The Nigerian defence academy, Afaka campus is set to be fixed up with a projected 2.5MW solar hybrid powerplant given to them by the FG through the Rural electrification agency (REA).
Similar projects are also contracted to be done in other higher institutions which include Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, University of Calabar and its Teaching Hospital, Federal University Gashua, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
For the project at the NDA, the contractors Dongfang Electric Corporation– Mutual Commitment Company (DEC – MCC), said the project will be done in 12 months.
The managing Director of REA, Salihijo Ahmed said that this program initiated by the federal government is a plan to ensure a steady supply of electricity to communities and higher institutions in the country.
