Morocco has made history by becoming one of the first African country that would play in the global stage.
The whole of Africa are in full support of this youngster team that have shocked countries with big calibre of players ranging from Belgium to Portugal and the big question is, can Morocco beat the reach in their world cup bid?
Actually, for the records, the Morocco’s historic World Cup run isn’t a coincidence. Since 2007, the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, have spent £12 million to reshape national football. This was used to produce the next generation of Moroccan footballers amidst worries about poor facilities & other issues.
Youssef En-Nesryi, Azzedine Ounahi, and Nayef Aguerd are just the latest to come from the academy. It has been attracting huge interest from other top academies in Europe.
This project which has spread over a decade, should be a source of inspiration for other African nations and teams who aren’t blessed with depths of class players. This has paid off at both club, youth, and international levels for Morocco.
The complex has 8 FIFA-standard fields, 1 indoor pitch, which is climate-controlled, 4 five-star hotels & a medical center with a dentist. This is a dedication to athlete development. It is also reported that the academy has a close relationship with Lyon, who keep a close eye on the talent in Morocco.
In 12 years, the Mohammed VI Football Academy has a great record already of producing players.
Thus, it’s not surprising that some of those players are fielding and challenging world strength.
The ball is now in the court of the Moroccan team to level up in their world cup bid.
