A newborn baby’s ear was nearly cut off after the doctor who delivered him via C-section opted to use three cellphones for lighting following a power outage at a hospital in Mexico.
Karla Urizandi, 19, gave birth to Juan Adriel Solis on June 6 at Mexicali International Specialties Clinic in Mexicali, Baja California, after the medical facility lost power for about 26 minutes.
Urizandi checked in at 11am and was transferred to the delivery room at 12:40pm.
The power went out around 12:48pm and the backup generator reportedly was not activated.
The teenager recalled the anesthesia had already been applied when the lights suddenly went out.
