The Methodist High School Ibadan Old Boys Association has announced that it will invest N250 million in renovating its alma mater.
According to a statement from the National President, Dr. Lekan Abioye, the money would be used to build and equip a standard science laboratory, build a cutting-edge indoor/outdoor facility for different sporting events, and revisit the boarding school system by renovating any of the existing buildings that can house twenty to thirty students at once.
The old boys planned to “to complete the abandoned event hall so it can serve as a revenue-generation for the school, Improve the aesthetics of the school premises through landscaping and planting of flowers, and complete the perimeter fencing of the school which is already halfway.”
He disclosed that the mega-reunion—the first-ever and historic Global Re-Union—had been planned to take place on December 8–10, 2023, at Lead City Hall, Lead City University, Ibadan.
“Friday’s event will feature workshops and training at different facets mostly targeted towards empowering old boys. There will also be interactive sessions with some resource persons across varying disciplines-business, importation, real estate, buying and selling to mention but a few, to empower members.
“There will also be avenues to unwind as there will be a novelty match between our school and Bishop Phillips Academy. We also hope to have the presence of some government representatives on that day to spur us on. The second day which will be the grand finale is the Mega Reunion.”
