Paris Saint Germain football club star Lionel Andres Messi has become the first player in history to win five Man of the Match awards in a single World Cup, after he won the award against France national team on Sunday in the final of the competition.
Lionel Messi has previously won four Player of the Match awards in 2022 FIFA World Cup, and he was able to win another award on Sunday to make it five.
The seven times Ballon D’or award winner was exceptional throughout this FIFA World Cup and he was able to play a vital role in his team’s victory over France on Sunday.
The 35-year-old opened scoring for Argentina via a penalty kick and he also scored another goal for the team during the extra time as the match ended in a draw but Argentina eventually won 4-2 via penalty shootout.
Lionel Messi was voted the Man of the Match after the end of the game and that marked his 5th in 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Prior to 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, no player has won the Man of the Match awards in five different matches in a World Cup, but Lionel Andres Messi has now set the record
