The Mafikizolo is a South African kwaito Afro-pop group. The group was founded in 1996 with three band members till the death of Tebogo Benedict in 2004.
The group which is now a duo has Nhlanhla Nciza and Teo Kgosinkwe as the make-up.
With over twenty years of performing and being relevant in the entertainment scene, the group has proven itself to be dynamic being able to diversify and meet up with the ever-changing sync of the time in the music scene.
The group released their first body of work in 1997 which was titled after them “Mafikizolo” the album was their launch into music, It gave them the recognition they deserved as an exceptional crew.
The group took a break after the release of their compilation album in 2009. Came back in 2011 with a song that took over Africa “Khona” which featured Uhuru and the remix with Davido one of Nigeria’s finest singers.
Khona got them to perform at MTV Africa Music Awards.
Since their reuniting, the duo has released various songs which have topped charts in Africa and beyond.
Some awards and recognition the duo have received include the 9th SAMA for Group of the year in 2003, 10th SAMA for Duo of the year in 2004, 13th SAMA 2007 for Best Duo/Group, Best DVD compilation, MTV Africa Music Awards for Best Group and many more.
