Chelsea’s ‘wantaway’ striker, Romelu Lukaku, will be permitted to leave Chelsea on a temporary basis after negotiations for a permanent transfer broke down.
According to football journalist, David Orsten, the club is now willing to let Lukaku go on loan as long as the arrangement contains a buy-back clause or is a straightforward loan with a substantial fee.
Following the most recent development, teams from the Saudi Pro League, Barcelona, Juventus, and Roma are reportedly interested in signing the Belgian.
Lukaku first joined Chelsea from Anderlecht as a teenager in 2011 for a rumoured sum of roughly €12 million, and following a loan spell that included West Brom, he left on a permanent basis for Everton.
He subsequently transferred from Inter Milan to the team in 2021 for a sum of £97.5 million.
He was at the forefront of an unpopular interview in December 2021 during which he criticized the coaching style of Thomas Tuchel, the team’s then-coach. As a result, he was cut from the squad.
He scored 14 goals in 37 games while on loan from Inter Milan for the 2022–23 season.
