The government has proposed renaming India to Bharat due to concerns that the current name is often confused with a political party called ‘INDIA’.
To achieve this change, the government has initiated a special resolution in parliament to consider replacing “India” with “Bharat.” This shift became evident during the G20 summit, which was hosted by the President of India Droupadi Murmu who used the title “President of Bharat” on the official invitation instead of “India.”
Support for this renaming comes from figures like Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who views it as a step towards ushering in an “Amrit Kaal” (Golden Age) for India
