n May 2002 a Nigerian Airways New York-Lagos flight was delayed for 24 hours because the airline couldnβt pay for fuel. Passengers had to contribute to fuel the aircraft. One passenger even gave a loan of $5,000 to the airline. That was the last flight for Nigerian Airways; the airline folded up.
