A Nigerian national, Theophilus Ejiofor, 48, has been jailed, while his South African girlfriend, Violet Magqoki, 28, was granted bail following their involvement in a drug-dealing incident in Lichtenburg, South Africa.
Ejiofor and his accomplice, 33-year-old Kgomotso Pholoholo, were arrested after selling drugs valued at R40,000, which included 649 mandrax tablets, 40 packets of crystal meth, and a plastic bag containing CAT drugs.
Lieutenant Colonel Tinyiko Mathebula, spokesperson for the Hawks in North West, confirmed the arrest, stating, “An undercover operation was conducted, which led to the arrest of the pair soon after selling drugs valued at R40,000.”
Mathebula also added, “A search was conducted at the Nigerian man’s house, where crystal meth with an estimated street value of R15,000 and CAT drugs valued at R6,000 were confiscated.”
His suspected accomplice, Pholoholo, was granted bail of R1,000, while Ejiofor remains in custody as his bail hearing is postponed.
