Five gunmen were nabbed by men of the Nigerian police from Ekiadolor police station aided by vigilante groups from the Kamafua- ii community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Edo State.
The men were arrested on Friday, December 16 by a joint efforts from both security outfits, after a kidnapping attempt at Ford Camp in Kamfua-ii was foiled.
Speaking on the arrest, the Edo police command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor revealed that the suspects are Christopher Aiyegbeni, 29; Matthew Osayande, 32; Uyi Destiny, 27; Bankole Faz, 35; and Ayemen Okojie, 32.
The arms recovered from them include a double-barrel gun, one single-barrel gun, and two pump-action guns with cartridges.
The spokesman commended the locals on behalf of the Edo state commissioner of police, CP Mohammed A. Dankwara.
He commended them for their collaboration which helped to nab the criminals, and assured them of a quick response in times of their need.
