For the second time in a row, German fans hopes have been crushed this evening as they are eliminated from the group stages of the World Cup for the second year in a row.
After failing to win either of their first two matches, Germany needed a win over Costa Rica tonight and for Spain to beat Japan.
Japan won 2-1 in their match while the Germans won 4-2 against Costa Rica, leaving Hansi Flick’s men in third place and Costa Rica at the bottom of the table.
The Germans hit the post three times during Thursday’s match in what will no doubt haunt the players as they’re sent packing this early in the tournament.
