An Ashanti golden chief’s ring, known as “mpetea”, in the form of a frog.
This ring is an allusion to the proverb “A frog‘s length is only apparent after death“, meaning that a chief’s accomplishments are often glossed over in life, to be appreciated and truly understood only after he has passed away.
