FIFA has rejected a request by Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky to share a message of peace ahead of the World Cup final, according to reports.
Zelensky offered to appear in a video link to fans in the stadium ahead of Sunday’s clash between Argentina and France.
We thought FIFA wanted to use its platform for the greater good,’ said a source speaking to , adding that Zelensky’s office was surprised by the negative response.
Ukraine remains under Russian aggression and Zelensky planned to use the World Cup final to send a message to the world. Zelensky has used major sporting and entertainment events to make speeches, whether in person or via video link.
