Cars flying Nigeria flags have been stopped by the Nigerian police and military across the country, including Lagos and Abuja, and the occupants arrested. As a result, the Nigerian flag became a red flag and a crime that led to the arrest of innocent youths.
Who would have believed that Nigeria would ever fall into such a pathetic state? No country has ever been so brutal against its youth.
Recall that just a year ago, across the country and especially at #LekkiTollgate, Nigerian youths waving Nigerian flags and singing the Nigerian national anthem were gunned down by the Nigerian army and police.
Just yesterday, 20 October, the youths gathered to commemorate that ugly day again when they took to the streets in protest against police brutality and were confronted with something worse. The Nigerian government came up with more arrests of citizens.
The moment a country starts arresting its citizens for waving their flag, it is a sign that the government is nearing its end. Nigeria as a country cannot be saved, and it cannot get better. Sad news for a country once called the giant of Africa. The recent arrests, injustices, marginalisation and killings by the Nigerian government and its security forces across Nigeria are why many indigenous groups like Oduduwa and Biafrans are calling for a separate state from Nigeria.
Today, 21 October 2021, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader is on trial after being illegally extradited from Kenya to Nigeria by the Nigerian government. That alone is a sign that it is only a matter of time, and nothing will be heard from Nigeria today.
