A dramatic scene unfolded at the private residence of the late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, in Ibadan, during a condolence visit by the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde.
Upon the arrival of the governors, journalists gathered to cover the condolence visit. However, one of the daughters of the deceased, Ololade Akeredolu, ordered all journalists to leave the residence, emphasizing that it was a private residence and not a Government House.
The presence of journalists sparked negative reactions, and reporters were instructed to vacate the premises. Some colleagues intervened to calm the situation, and the two governors later addressed the press on the street outside the residence.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq expressed condolences, describing the late Governor Akeredolu as a man who rose to the peak of his career and politics, impacting greatly on humanity. He conveyed the sympathy of the Nigeria Governors Forum and prayed for the repose of Akeredolu’s soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.
