Pope Francis suggested on Wednesday that people celebrate “a more humble Christmas” this year by spending less on gifts and celebrations and sending the difference to Ukrainians in need.
During a general audience at the Vatican on Wednesday, the head of the Catholic Church said people could cut back on festive spending this year and celebrate with more humble gifts.
“Let us send what we save to the people of Ukraine who need it, who are suffering so much, who are hungry and cold,” the 85-year-old urged.
Recalled In September, Francis said it was morally acceptable for countries to provide weapons to Ukraine. Self-defense in the face of aggression is “not only lawful, but also an expression of love of country,” he said.
