A former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson has advised Moroccan sensation Hakim Ziyech leave the Blues because Premier League Seems too rough for him to handle.
Ziyech left Ajax for Chelsea in 2020 and paid €40 million to try to make a name for himself in the Premier League. But so far, things haven’t worked out the way he planned.
The attacker, who is 29 years old, has had a hard time becoming a regular starter for the Blues. It’s important to note that he has only played 148 minutes in the Premier League this season.
But Ziyech has been playing very well for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Atlas Lions have done amazingly well to get to the semi-finals of the competition, thanks in large part to what he has done.
Johnson has now said why the attacker hasn’t done well for Chelsea even though he has been a star for Morocco. The former Blues full-back thinks that international football is different from Premier League action.
The Englishman thinks that Ziyech can’t handle the aggressiveness of the Premier League. He went on to say that the Moroccan is better at playing for his country or in the Champions League.
He started: “I’m a big fan of him and he’s obviously a super player, however, I believe that the Premier League may be a little bit too aggressive for him. Technically there’s no doubt about what he can do as he’s one of the best, but international football is closer to Champions League football than it is the Premier League.”
