It was a sad day for visitors and indigenes of Calabar, as the historic Calabar festival recorded a tragedy when a biker lost control and ran into the huge crowd, wounding more than 20 people and leaving scores dead.
As seen in a video from the carnival posted by a Twitter user, there were frantic efforts to cover the head and take the wounded to the hospital for treatment.
A few dead bodies can be seen half-covered in the video, as wailing and blaring sirens can be heard in the background.
