Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match against Union Berlin has been postponed due to heavy snowfall in Munich, leading to security risks and difficult traffic conditions. The match, initially scheduled for Saturday afternoon, was canceled as safety concerns arose, and it became challenging for fans, security personnel, and stadium staff to access the Allianz Arena. The Munich transport authorities had already halted rail connections, and severe traffic disruptions were reported across the region.
Bayern Munich released a statement emphasizing the priority of fan and staff safety and expressing regret over the cancellation. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen stated that the decision was necessary to ensure the well-being of supporters.
The German Football Leagues (DFL), responsible for Bundesliga administration, confirmed the cancellation and indicated that a new date for the fixture would be announced shortly. The heavy snowfall and low temperatures affected transportation and raised safety concerns, prompting the postponement of the match.
